Ridley Scott takes aliens to ancient Egypt for TV

The director of Alien and Blade Runner, Ridley Scott, is developing a new TV series for HBO, focussing on alien activity in ancient Egypt.

Scott will serve as executive producer and director on the upcoming Pharoah, set to explore the rise of Egypt and the influence extra-terrestrials had on the highly advanced culture. We're expecting something along the lines of Rome with an Ancient Astronauts twist, rather than a Stargateredux.

Pharaoh is co-created by writer-producers David Schulner and Colet Abedi, and actress-producer Giannina Facio. Abedi confirmed news of the series' development on her website. Casting is a long way off, but given Scott has cast Facio (his real-life partner) in all of his films since 1996's White Squall, it's fairly safe to assume she will have at least a brief on-screen presence in addition to her more senior production duties.
