Tennessee witness says UFO was larger than apartment complex

Openminds reports that a Tennessee witness at Jasper reported having a strange feeling that caused him to move outside where he watched a silent, rectangle UFO larger than his apartment complex hovering nearby, according to testimony in Case 74637 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was at home in his bedroom when he had a strange feeling to go outside about 6:30 p.m. on October 30, 2015.

“So I jumped up and ran out as fast as I could,” the witness stated. “And I look straight up and there it was – a gigantic, black rectangle with red lights in the shape of a pyramid and one light off to itself on the edge of the craft.”

The witness was amazed at how large the craft was.

“It was so big that it was bigger than the apartment complex I live in.”

The object was moving very slowly.

“I watched it slowly move by. And I mean slowly – almost a hover for about 10 minutes until it got so far I could not see it anymore. I’ve been around military aircraft my whole life and I live close to an Air Force base so I see and have seen every type of flying machines known to man. I have never seen anything like this or that big.”

The witness is not sure what he saw.

“I don’t know if it was a UFO, but it’s the biggest, slowest and most quietist thing that I’ve ever seen in the sky. I would like to know why I felt it as strong as I did and wasn’t able to hear it. The feeling of it being there was so strong that I practically ran as fast as I could outside and then it went away when I saw it right above my head just floating by like a skyscraper flying.”

Tennessee MUFON is investigating. The case was submitted to MUFON on February 23, 2016. No images or videos were included with the report.

Mysterious booms and cracking noises startled people across Middle Tennessee during a deep freeze Wednesday night, leading many to learn a new scientific term.

Cryoseismic booms — which occur when frozen water expands and explodes underground — were reported widely.

Before word got around on social media and news websites, the sounds caused quite a bit of alarm, including in the Spring Hill area, where dozens made reports to dispatchers.

Spring Hill 911 Director Brandi Smith said reports began coming in before 10 p.m., mostly through the Facebook page for Spring Hill Dispatch, initially triggering an ambulance and firefighters to visit the Spring Hill Villages Apartments, where several tenants heard the sound.

Then Smith heard it herself, tracked down the scientific explanation and began to share it online.

"The first one sounded like a tree or something like that falling, and the second one sounded like firecrackers," she said. "People were trying to figure out what it was. And some were scared."

On social media, the sounds were described as booms or similar to firecrackers or falling ice. Reports came in across Spring Hill, and ultimately from across the region, including Murfreesboro, Franklin, Belle Meade and the Sylvan Park neighborhood.

Some said they'd heard similar sounds on prior nights.

"It was a deep boom, like it was under the ground," said Keith Mohr of Spring Hill. "It sounded like when they were blasting on Reserve Boulevard."

The mystery also spread to the National Weather Service, which made social media postings asking for reports about what was being heard — although the service would not officially investigate.


Kristin Carson, in Belle Meade, said she heard six in a two-hour span before midnight.

"Spent a little time with flashlights outside until we read about it online," Carson said. "The sounds were definitely distinctive but not as loud as some have reported. More like a very loud thud.

WMC Action News 5's Andrew Douglas took your questions to Eddie Middleton, who is a college professor and the director of the Tennessee branch of MUFON (Mutual UFO Network).

"I would want to interview the witness," Middleton said. "If I assess that they are credible, I would probably want to classify that as an unknown. It can't be identified."

Middleton has been following and researching UFOs for the better part of 30 years.

"We have many sightings in the Mid-South area," Middleton said. "I'd say 95 percent are not reported. It's rare that people will report a sighting."

But in today's world, people are equipped with more cameras than ever before making proof easier to come by.

During Fourth of July fireworks in Downtown Memphis in 2014, someone saw something strange in the sky. It was reportedly blinking and moving at different speeds. Could it be?

"We know from a lot of experience over the years that they do tend to show up during firework displays. I guess they know that they're not going to be spotted readily."


Middleton says Tennessee has some of the highest reports of sightings in the South. Tennessee MUFON meets once a month to talk about it.

"I got people coming in from Waverly, Tennessee, who've been having actual encounters with entities on their property."

96 Year Old Witness Tells About UFO Shutting Down His Motorcycle

motorcycle UFO sighting

C. R. Clough said he had his own strange encounter with a UFO while riding his motorcycle in 1974.

“I had bought a Honda motorcycle a few months prior to this incident, and was pleased with its performance. Riding the cycle to work one evening at 10:30 p.m., I noticed a very bright light, and my motorcycle’s engine stopped. I was doing about 50 miles per hour at the time. I depressed the clutch and tried to start the engine several times, to no avail. After about 15 or 20 seconds, the light was no longer visible and the engine started, and I drove on to work.”

He said he’s convinced the motor was affected by interference from the magnetic field of a UFO.

He has written about this encounter, as well as philosophy, physics, fusion and dietary advice (he survived cancer 20 years ago), and put all his writings in a book. He titled it, “This is it — A lifetime of wondering with and about some wonderful people and things,” and self-published the 205-page tome in 2012.

3 larger lights formed a triangle, 1 smaller dim light on top, all non-flashing, fast/silent flight, military jet in pursuit. I was outside walking when I noticed a large solid ball of yellowish- white glowing light. I thought I was seeing a planet at first but way too large. It appeared to not be moving, so I called for my father and grandmother to look. We watched as it began moving closer until it flew over us at a much lower altitude than any commercial jet would fly, and was moving to other horizon, and by the time I got to the backyard to finish watching, it had vanished.

 When I was in backyard trying to find it again, a Military Jet appeared in same flight path about 2 minutes later, and my father and I confirmed that it was a military jet from our military experience, and we knew it was a jet from the obvious sound we heard once it had moved on as well. The UFO had a very fast smooth flight with no noise and I couldn’t make out the individual lights until it was over head. At a distance it was huge! We are in shock. I’m a 30 years old Navy Brat, my Father is 62 and a 20 Year Navy Veteran and my grandmother age 86. NOTE: The above image is a rendering.

It was stationary and then decended slowly down. then it decended and was gone.

Triangular UFO Hovers 20 Feet Above Witness in Tennessee

"I did not observe any sound from the object even though it was only about 20 feet above me. I figured the time of the sighting must have been 9:59 p.m. on April 27, 2013."

A witness in Tennessee, U.S., has reported sighting a large, triangular shaped UFO on 27 April, 2013 at 9:59 PM. This report has been obtained from a testimony included in the database of Mutual UFO Network (MUFON).

The witness begins the report by describing what he was doing at the time of the alleged sighting.

“I was coming home from grocery shopping in Crossville and headed west on Highway 70 in the Pleasant Hill area. While driving, a large object appeared before my eyes, just above my vehicle.”

The witness then describes the shape and size of the object, and provides a brief description of its light.

“I noticed a large triangular type shape with a big lit circle in the middle of it. The light was several feet across and was illuminated with white light. The object looked dark gray as far as I could tell and the shape was triangular but with curves.”

He describes his initial reaction to the sighting.

“I figured it must be a UFO to be just hovering like that over the power lines.”

The witness provides us with a brief description of what he exactly saw from his vehicle. He also talks about the total number of objects, and their lights.

“I could only see the underneath because I was passing under it. I couldn’t believe it was hovering over me a bit to the left and over the power lines. I observed the power lines were just a few inches underneath the object. It did appear to be coming closer to me. I also slowed down the vehicle a little so I could keep watching and ducked my head some to continue to see. I noticed 4 beams of light that went from one side to the other of the object and pulsed about 4 times on and off. The lights were about 6 to 8 foot across. Larger than the circular light in the middle.”

The witness tried to look at the object from the rear view of his car.

“I tried to see if I could see the object in my rear view mirror but it appeared to be gone.”

He further describes the sound of the object, its elevation, and the date, time and duration of the sighting.

I did not observe any sound from the object even though it was only about 20 feet above me. I figured the time of the sighting must have been 9:59 p.m. on April 27, 2013. The sighting must have lasted about 10 seconds.

Finally, the witness describes how he tried to alert the other vehicles, which were travelling in the direction of the object.

“Also while this was going on, there were no other cars on the road and after continuing about 1/2 mile I did see 2 different cars coming from the other direction and I flashed my lights at them just to alert them, in case the object was still in the area or if it possibly landed.”
